10th Annual Thanksgiving Event

On November 15, we held our 10th Annual Thanksgiving for Transition-Age Youth at Community Coalition. It was a smashing success with over 50 youth in attendance. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heirloom LA for donating their delicious food, time and heart to the event.

In addition to providing a delicious Thanksgiving spread, Heirloom LA donated gift baskets for our youth to take home filled with toiletries, household items and pantry staples. They also kicked off the afternoon with cooking demonstrations, teaching youth how to chop, slice and prepare a quick and healthy salad.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Heirloom LA as a partner.

For the last few years, Heirloom LA has always been quick to offer our clients their time, talent and tasty food.  From hosting a beautiful brunch for several of our young ladies, to catering Survival Saturday and Raising Baby, we can’t thank them enough for their continuous support. They have also trained, hired and mentored young adults aging out of foster care. The culinary field is an in-demand industry that they have meaningfully introduced to several of our youth.  We are grateful to be among the many organizations Heirloom LA supports, which include Boys and Girls Club, Garden School Foundation, Ability First and others like the Alliance of Moms.

Heirloom LA is one of Los Angeles’ premier catering companies, and has been featured in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Eater. Not to mention they earned the coveted title of “Best Gourmet Food Truck” by Los Angeles Magazine.

Thanksgiving for Transition-Age Youth was created by Board Member and actress Angie Harmon at the time the Alliance launched its NextStep Program. Since 2005, NextStep has helped 20,000 youth transition from foster care to adulthood, and many of these young people have found a holiday tradition in our Thanksgiving event!
