Full Equity for Relatives Achieved At Long Last
Last June, we were very excited to see that Governor Brown approved a new rate system for foster care families that allowed grandparents and relatives access to the same support that non-relative foster parents had. Upon closer review we found that this new rate system had not accounted for parenting foster youth or foster youth with developmental disabilities. We are pleased that today the Governor has resolved this oversight, and now both these vulnerable populations will have access to the same level of support, regardless of if they live with relatives or non-relatives.
