Healthcare

Too often, caregivers encounter obstacles in obtaining medical and mental health services for children in foster care, and young adults transitioning from foster care to independence experience problems with continuous medical coverage.

What do we do:

The Alliance assists those in foster care with accessing medical coverage and services. We also conduct trainings throughout Los Angeles County for medical providers, the courts and public and private agencies about foster care and related healthcare and legal issues.

The Alliance:

  • Ensures continuous Medi-Cal coverage for those in foster care.
  • Helps young adults who are or were in foster care maintain health insurance coverage.
  • Links clients to providers.
  • Challenges Medi-Cal denials for those in foster care.
