Foster Care Adoption

The Alliance provides free legal services to families to finalize their adoptions from the foster care system. In addition, the Alliance ensures that each adopted child receives post-adoption benefits and services appropriate to their needs so they can continue to thrive.

For more information about how to become a foster/adoptive parent, download the Resource Family Approval Toolkit.

How do we do it:

We cut through the mountains of red tape that usually makes the process long and frustrating by working closely with the Los Angeles Children’s Court, the Department of Children and Family Services and the children’s attorneys. These partnerships help remove barriers in individual cases and have led to policy reform on a county level. Our dedicated cadre of pro bono attorneys extends our reach and has helped us complete more than 14,000 adoptions in our history.

Many of our adoptions are finalized through the Adoption Day Program, including the National Adoption Day which was started by the Alliance and is now a national model to promote foster care adoption.
